This year has been a breakout year for diversity in fashion. In an industry where there’s normally a winter wonderland, we’ve noticed a lot more black fashion designers during Fashion Week, as well as more black models. After the past couple of years the fashion industry has been scrutinizes due to lack of black faces. We’ve all seen it before. During Fashion Shows, there’s a flow of white faces and then maybe towards the end Naomi Campbell walks out leaving you wondering “Are there anymore black models or is Naomi the last one?” Lets celebrate “Us” in fashion starting with the beautiful models that took over 2013….
We can’t forget about the fresh face designers that graced our presence this year:

Of course we can’t have a triumph without some controversy. While we were celebrating ‘Us’ in fashion, there were others trying to keep us down. With our new home in fashion there was also “the same ole thing.” Check out Black Faces in Fashion:

Good or bad diversity entered fashion by storm; as well as the conversation. Hopefully 2014 brings something amazing!
