Happy Monday VavaLovers!
Hope you guys and gals are all recovered from the fun festivities the holidays and weekend had to offer, and are ready to get back to business. We are only a couple of days into 2015 and already the fashion industry is making history, but with major milestone there are always back petals . In this segment, we’re dishing on top designers to look out for, top designers that only use plus size diva’s and more you have to see to believe. But first, how Jourdan Dunn made the biggest milestone in her career… Enjoy!
Over the weekend I posted Jourdan Dunn gracing the cover of British Vogue February 2015 issue, when a follower commented; “The first black model to cover in 12 years since Naomi Campbell in 2002.” Wow that’s deep! It makes since now that the mag wants to feature the household name model on their February cover being that February is Black History month and all. Let’s just hope that’s not the reason. In the meantime lets take a look back at their 2014 cover:

Can someone please explain to me what Madonna is thinking, because I really don’t understand. Over the weekend the ‘Material Girl‘ posted photos of great leaders; Dr. Martin Luther King, Bob Marley and Nelson Mandela with black rope wrapped around their faces in an effort to promote her new album Rebel Heart. Now I’m all about taking risk in an effort to get your name and brand out there, but just last year the pop star was under fire when she posted a video calling her adopted (black) son the N word.
Madonna since apologized on her official Facebook page saying, “I’m sorry. I’m not comparing my self to anyone. I’m admiring and acknowledging there Rebel Hearts (sic)’.” Do you think her apology is good enough? (FB)
In this one sided industry, it may be a little hard to step outside of the box and just be yourself. A lot of beautiful people want a career in the fashion industry but are afraid of being judged: Your’re not tall enough, You’re not thin enough, You’re not light enough etc. With all those judgments in this world, one designer looked at it as a challenge. She wants for not only herself, but other amazing women looking to get get into fashion to over come… Meet designer Courtney Smith of Rum + Coke, the label of all things fabulous for all you bugetnista’s looking for amazing styles for less. Her prices range from $48 to $200 with sizes from 2 to 22. Check out more of Courtney Smith’s interview and amazing styles here!
Style List just did some major name dropping on top designers to watch in 2015. Some of these names are of course the usual high end designers; John Galliano, Marc Jacobs and Riccardo Tisci to name a few, but some would surprise you. The big names like John Galliano, I’m guessing maybe tackling new challenges for their iconic collections and others maybe designers that we thought were very underrated. Click here for more! Who do you think made the list?
Kim Kadashian West’s team thought way outside the box with her latest shoot for Love Magazine. The reality star wore vintage and custom Prada with bleached brows (a trend we may see more of this year) and is set to feature a 30 page spread of the star. From the cover, the mag is set to hit news stands late 2015 but Kim could not wait to show her loyal fans, “Working with @stevenkleinstudio was so crazy for me! We shot for 3 days straight at a motel in LA. One night til 4am. @kegrand dressed me in all vintage and custom @Prada and bleached my brows! Can’t wait for u to see 30+ page spread with Steven Klein for Love Magazine.” Do you love? (IG)
